Shape Pattern Turkeys

This activity integrates many Pre-K standards in one themed activity!

Students practice shape recognition by identifying the shapes they use to make their turkey. They also practice recognizing, extending, and creating simple patterns by using the triangles to create patterns as they build their turkey's feathers.

You will need:

A full construction paper sheet

Small triangles in many colors

A large brown circle

A small brown circle

Start by putting your full construction paper on the table vertically. Then continue by gluing the large brown circle at the bottom of the paper.

Next you will use two colors of the small triangles to create a pattern along the edge of the brown circle.

Then you will create another pattern by turning the triangles the opposite direction and filling in the gaps. You can use the same colors or make a new pattern with different colors.

Continue alternating between the two patterns every other row until you reach the top of the page.

Next, you will glue the small circle towards the top of the large circle covering some of the feathers.

For the beak choose a triangle that is beak color and glue it in the middle of the small circle with one point facing down.

Use googly eyes and glue them or use a marker to draw the turkey's eyes. Add any finishing touches that you would like, and your pattern turkey is complete!
